AFTER ELECTION SELECTION DAY
This is a day to remember the great stalwarts of the Bar who shaped our Association, to reflect honestly on the standards prevailing in our Bar today, and to ask ourselves what kind of Bar Association we wish to leave behind for future generations.
We must reflect upon our actions, our commitment to upholding the highest standards of the Bar, and our conduct towards the Judiciary and our fellow colleagues. We must honestly ponder our role in curbing corruption at every level and ensure that, knowingly or unknowingly, we do not further the interests of corrupt elements.
Elections should never become a contest of personal likes, dislikes, past grievances, friendships, rivalries, or merely good or bad experiences. While our individual experiences may influence us, our vote must ultimately be guided by what is best for the institution.
*The Bar has a responsibility to choose representatives who will protect its dignity, uphold professional ethics, maintain the highest standards of integrity, and work fearlessly for the welfare and betterment of the entire Bar*
Let us therefore rise above personal considerations and vote not for individuals merely because of our past experiences, but for the betterment of the institution. Let our choices reflect the Bar we wish to see—and the Bar we wish to leave behind for those who come after us.
*This Day, let us commit ourselves to restoring and preserving the integrity, dignity, independence and respect of this great Association*.
